CATALYSTS

Wednesday, November 20 at 12 PM ET, 9AM PT, 4PM GMT

OBJECTIVE: Enable participants to understand how behavioral data and an awareness of Persistent Interdependent Contradictory Tensions (PICTs) can assist their organization in creating new and improved capabilities through improved self-awareness, team awareness, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Event Overview: Join Alan Hoffmanner and his team for a 50-minute session designed to explore the following:

All organizations and teams face significant challenges, often in the form of complex strategic problems with multiple underlying and nested paradoxes or PICTs. These issues are frequently concealed beneath the surface due to our natural tendencies, and those present within our teams - as well as day-to-day "firefighting". In this session, we will discuss how to bring these paradoxes to light, prepare ourselves for effectively addressing them, and develop strategies for successful resolution. We will also focus on how applying an understanding of your natural tendencies—and those of your team—can greatly enhance performance.

How Leaders use Behavioral Data to Navigate Paradoxes and Maximize Team Performance

Agenda Outline:
• We begin with an overview of the PICT concept (Persistent Interdependent yet Contradictory Tensions). These underlie many of our challenges and it’s quite often we don’t get the desired results because we persist in our either/or thinking rather than exploring both/and opportunities.

• Next we explore a set of PICT/Paradoxes that exist in our human nature but which differ person by person. These include how we communicate, hold people accountable, form judgements, assess problems, make decisions, execute action plans, make strategic decisions and lead. We’ll discuss how you can understand your natural tendencies in each and in those on your team and we’ll discuss the under-appreciated issue of stress and its huge potential impact.

• We’ll conclude the above discussion by discussing how understanding these PICTs, can help us deal with our biggest challenges which will inevitably have PICTs underlying their structure.

• We’ll identify some of the most common PICT’s that exist in organization and how to best develop your teams and decision-making processes to successfully address your key challenges with a more effective use of both/and thinking.

• We’ll conclude with how a lack of understanding of ourselves (self awareness) and our team (team awareness) prevents us from reahing our goals. In this discussion we’ll look at how engagement factors, stressors and our “life themes” impact our behavior and our results and our ability to surface and deal with PICTs.
